“ It was my birthday today. We live in Brentwood, a food wasteland. So, since we hadn't really spent time in downtown Livermore, we decided to wander around and pick a place for dinner. We passed Dimitris and thought about Greek food since we just got back from Greece a few months ago. However, over the years we get so disappointed in what locals call Greek food being "authentic" that we usually pass, or are disappointed, unless you are at a place like Kokarri in SF, for instance. Well I have to tell you this place just became of our new favorite "go-to" places. The food was tremendous. Multiple selections of Ouzo's, perfect dolma's, amazing lamb just like in Greece, great Pastitsio, perfect wines to go with the food and one of the best darn home made kataifi I have had outside of Greece as a birthday dish. We love Greece because of the people and we found the staff is really wonderful, just like being in Greece...helpful and friendly. We also had the chance to meet Demitri and talk about Greece and let my wife, who is learning the language practice a bit....what a wonderful owner and host. If you love real Greek food in a place just like a taverna on a Greek island give this place a try...just perfect all around...5 stars across the board! ”

“ Had it not been for the X-mas pop up next door, I would not have even ventured to this place. I'm so happy the holidays brought me here. This place was a hit! First off, pastas? I venture to a lot of Mediterranean and this is the first time I've seen pasta on the menu with Greek food. I tried the gyro pasta and was fully satisfied. The portion was enormous. Everything tasted as you would expect coming from the other dishes my friends ordered. Between you and me, I'm shocked at these prices. I hope they don't read this, cause they really could be charging more for these dishes based on what I get for the same stuff in San Jose. ”

“ 4.5 for food 3 for service Overall the food was delicious. Bifteki was very flavorful and exactly what I expected . Chicken Souvlaki Pita is very tasty. The service was just ok. They were quick to sit us and take our order but when we got our food the server never came back around to check on us. I had to get up and ask for a refill of water after I waited about 15min for the server to come back. It was a young staff so I didn't really get angry about it. They have lots to learn about working in a restaurant. Other than that the place is very clean and cozy. Definitely will be coming back when I'm in Livermore. ”

“ 5 stars all around. Welcoming staff, beautiful decor, and amazing food. Mom and I shared the village salad, saganaki, spanakotiropita, and pork souvlaki pita. Everything was extremely fresh and tasted homemade. The skordalia that comes in the bread basket is addicting. I swear we entered the doors and were sitting at a taverna in Greece. The pork souvlaki was juicy and had great flavor. The tzatziki was garlicky and delicious. Even the fries tasted like I was teleported to Greece. The saganaki was top tier. I could have eaten one for myself. The spanakotiropita was fresh and the buttery phyllo with the fresh herbs and spinach and cheese were great. The salad was fresh and the arugula was a nice touch. Everything was very high quality, and we thoroughly enjoyed our lunch. We ate our leftovers for dinner and everything was still great heated up. Also, the gentlemen working were very welcoming and friendly. Can't wait to come back and try new things!! ”

“ Demitri's did not disappoint! Greek food has so much to offer, but was I grateful to stumble upon this hidden gem while in Downtown Livermore. I remember not passing by this spot, but I don't come down here often so I could be wrong. The ambiance was cozy and lively, making it the perfect spot for drinks and dinner date. The menu was extensive, offering a wide variety of dishes/tapas. The staff were friendly and helpful, which is always a plus for me. I chose the Bifteki Smirnako and was not disappointed. I also debated getting the gyro platter since it caught my eye, but I'll save that for my next visit. I guess I wanted to try something new! Overall, the food and first time experience were great. I'm already looking forward to my next meal at Demitri's. Thank you! ”

“ I was in the area and I was in the mood to try a new cuisine. I'm not too familiar with Greek food so I said why not. Wow I must say, Greek food is pretty tasty. Lots of feta cheese, olives, olive oil, spinach. Basically everything that is good for you lol I had order a peach drink and it was supeeeeer food. It had the right amount of alcohol and sweetness ratio. I played it safe and order a pita meal and it was great. The pita had a nice fluffy texture, the sauces added were rich and the chicken was flavorful. The ambiance reminded me of the big fat Greek wedding movie. Lots of blues, wood, and greenery. Good experience :) ”

“ A completely wonderful find, thanks to Yelp. Atmosphere offers pleasant Greek decor and music at just the right volume to allow conversation. Lots of outdoor seating and a good amount inside too. Server and kitchen/bar attendant were pleasant and attentive. It was mid-afternoon so we stuck with appetizers and side salad, and they were all excellent and filling. There were six large meat- and rice-filled dolmathes with gentle seasoning and a delicious creamy sauce. The Greek salad was vegetables (no lettuce) with a just-right dressing and a huge slab of feta. And the feta and olives plate with four spreads, pita, and lots of olives was generous and all delicious. One side salad and two appetizers fed three of us very well. One very small negative was that I encountered a few small bits of bone in the dolmathes, but it's certainly not worth deducting any portion of a star from this excellent restaurant. I wish they'd make it a chain. ”
